Private Mode

Browse privately, and be seen only by the people you choose. Private Mode keeps your profile out of everyone’s searches and browse cards, so you can look for your match without the rest of the world watching.

Coming soon. Private Mode will be a setting you can switch on in the app; this page explains what we intend to offer.

How Private Mode works

  • Your profile does not appear in other members’ search results or browse cards while Private Mode is on.
  • You can still search, browse and see other members exactly as normal.
  • Your profile becomes visible only to the people you choose to like or contact.
  • You decide when to be seen — switch Private Mode on or off whenever you like.

It is a private room rather than a locked door. You keep the search, the browsing and the choosing; what changes is who is able to find you first.

Why someone might need it

For some people, being visible online is not simply a matter of shyness.

  • You have been stalked, harassed or followed, and would rather your face and your whereabouts were not on display.
  • You are trying not to be found — by a former partner, an unwanted association, a difficult family situation, or someone from a past you have left behind.
  • Your work, your calling or your community means you would rather keep your search for a companion to yourself.
  • You would simply prefer to look first and be found later, on your own timetable.

None of that means giving up on finding someone. Private Mode lets you stay under the radar and still search for the person you hope to meet.

What stays the same

Private Mode changes who can find you — not who you are.

  • Every member is still verified as a real person through a private selfie check, with proof of Church membership where it is claimed.
  • Our Community Standards still apply to everyone, and you can still report or block anyone at any time.
  • Your own search filters keep working as you set them, including restricting your search — and being found — to Church members only.

The honest limits

We would rather tell you what Private Mode does than promise more than it can deliver.

  • It is not a guarantee of safety. If someone already has your photographs or your details, they may still recognise you.
  • It does not hide you from our own team, or from a lawful request we may be required to meet.
  • If you are in immediate danger, contact the police — 000 in Australia, 111 in New Zealand — before anything else.
  • If you are being stalked or harassed, tell us. Our support team can look at your account and help you think through next steps.

Privately, and at your own pace

Some people find their match in a week. Others take longer, watching from the doorway until the room feels safe. Both are welcome here, and neither needs an explanation.
